Leicester Falcons Academy – Training for the future

Leicester Falcons Academy trains and plays at the Falcons home ground, Babbington Community College, Strasbourg Drive, Leicester. Winter training is on an all-weather pitch at Brockington College.

New recruits are always welcome. No experience is required to start and full training is given.

Falcons Youth (14 -17)

Following the launch of the Junior team, the Falcons started after-school clubs at a number of schools, which act as a recruitment for the Junior team, but one school in particular, Beaumont Leys School, proved very enthusiastic. This school club for under 16s had a tremendous turnout with in excess of 30 young people participating each week. The after-school co-ordinator Shaun Issit felt that he wanted the programme to focus on the kitted game, not flag football.

Thanks to the help of BAFA and their new ‘Kick Start’ programme, this has become achievable through the loan of equipment and allowed the team to compete in 2012.

The Youth team finished their season with a game tally of 7-5 just one win short of the total needed for a place in the play-offs. However coach, Karl Burgess, was glowing in his tribute of a squad of 24 players of which 19 were first year rookies.

Falcons Juniors (16 – 19)

The Falcons are actively recruiting this age group with a view to entering competition for the 2014 season.

All those interested parties should contact us as soon as possible.
