Derby Braves join the Falcons family

Following on from the announcement of Head Coach Gareth Ellison stepping down; the BAFA Derby Braves Womens American Football team would like to formally announce that we will be moving and participating under the Leicester Falcons’ banner moving forward.

Gareth Ellison shared of the news: “ I think the move to the Leicester Falcons Academy is a very positive step for the team. It is clear that Women’s teams that have the support of a larger club tend to be more successful and more sustainable. By joining a well-managed, ambitious program the team will get the support they need while still maintaining the strong team identity that has been built over the last few years. I look forward to seeing the future development and success of everyone involved.”

The Leicester Falcons are looking forward to welcoming the Womens team within their academy structure. The main aim is to further develop and strengthen the squad and coaching staff, both on and off the pitch, and Guy Kersey, President of the Leicester Falcons, says: “We’re all delighted to be bringing the Derby Braves Women’s team into the Falcons Academy. This is a great and natural addition to our existing U17, U19 and Senior teams and we’ll readily be able to assist with quality coaching, recruitment and infrastructure.”
